Everyday Shot

One of the last afternoons before school began.

The kids were playing a game of hide and seek without argument.  Which was pretty rare.

Kyle helping Brandon count so he doesn't come looking after number 3.

I love everything about this everyday shot....

Brandon in his too big undies, the way his legs go in at the knees, the always present vacuum cleaner, the pillows strewn around the room, the chairs not in a row, the messy countertops, the way that Kyle has his arm around Brandon, Lauren peeking around the corner.....

Little tidbits of our lives.  Things I don't want to forget.

San Diego Part 2

This is where we stayed.....

it was so comfortable and roomy, the kids started calling it home.

They all agreed that we could trade in our home in Vegas and live there forever :)

When we weren't playing in the water, the kids played UNO, or watched endless videos, or played on the computer.  It really was a perfect place for the family.

I was in love with the balcony, and the ocean breeze and my good book....

And these flowers that grew on the trees just outside our door.

Sneak Peek

San Diego Part 1

We wanted to go tide pooling, after a little research, we decided to go to Cabrillo National Park.

It was amazing.  The kids had a blast looking for sealife amongst the rocks.  I have to admit, it was a tiny bit nerve wracking with the tall ledges.  Sometimes it could be just one little slip and into the ocean a child could fall.  We walked around and found some safer spots.  Definitely a cool place to check out.  Next time everyone will wear shoes with traction :)

The kids used my gym card that goes on the key chain to scrap these suckers off.  Apparently they don't like that.  We read it on the way out.  Oops.  We did find lots of crabs.  No luck on star fish or octopus.

The kids could have stayed for hours.

They also had a lighthouse to tour, which was interesting.

After viewing the lighthouse, Kade was quite upset that we weren't going back to the tide pools.

Brandon was alright with it.  He was pretty sure a crab was going to bite his toes.

With September fast approaching and all the work necessary to get the kids off to school and preschool up and running, and my mind back into the daily schedule, I am so thankful that we had a chance to really have a vacation and relax in a beautiful place.  This is one of my favorites.  It makes wish I was still there.

The Story of a Bear

While I was packing up for our trip, Lauren came frantically downstairs screaming that her bear was on fire.  Of course, I panicked.  Ran upstairs to find her bear neatly placed upon the light bulb of her lamp.  Black and smoking and really close to catching fire.  No doubt it was our mischievous Brandon that was the culprit.  We all felt very thankful that Lauren had found the bear because the thought of our house going up in flames is too much to think about.  Lauren was devastated to say the least.  She began crying like this bear was a living creature.  I tried to be empathetic, but seriously sometimes I just want to say buck up!  Finally she decided we would cut the legs off because they weren't burnt and then I could just sew them on to the top half of the bear.  And that's just what we did.  He is a bit deformed, has no stomach, and his arms are now the same length as his legs, but she is happy, and she still has her bear that apparently means more to her than I ever thought :)

Block Printing

My order came in from Dick Blick when we were gone.

It was a little bit of an investment for the supplies, but this was a really fun project.

It was easy enough for the three year old.

They all put their own paint on and surprisingly it wasn't messy.

I LOVE the transportation school project she created using this technique.

We have so many supplies left over, I think that I will pull this out for a project with the preschoolers.

Hmmm....Maybe christmas cards for parents?
