I had time to craft all the lovely goodness I find on pinterest. My house would look fantastic:)
Keep up on my blog. Update it at least once a week. I'm lame.
Edit pictures I take instead of leaving them on the card in my camera.
Actually get my house cleaned for the week. I don't have a day to get it done.
Instead, I'm super busy with being the mom, preschool teacher, family photographer, and trying to enjoy the moment instead of wishing them away.
I loved this quote from General Conference. It was something a mother had said regarding having children in Neil A. Anderson talk entitled "Children" She said, “Motherhood is not a hobby, it is a calling. You do not collect children because you find them cuter than stamps. It is not something to do if you can squeeze the time in. It is what God gave you time for.”
I have often reminded myself of that when I'm in the thick of things, unexpected messes are made, driving kids from here to there to everywhere, when my children are arguing and I need to intervene, those teaching moments that come ever so often, when my kids ask me to read to them, play with them, snuggle them, when I'm tired and don't want prepare for the school day ahead.....I remember, Motherhood: "It is what God gave you time for." and my perspective changes.
For that I am most grateful. It is my important work. My children are worth my time. They should be the priority.
So, I don't have time for cute projects, or a clean house, or updated pictures on my walls. I have a feeling I'll never have the time, even when I'm older, because then I'll be a grandma, and my work will never be done.
Instead, I have a home where I can create a stable environment where my children can feel loved and accepted and appreciated for who they are.
That is a beautiful thing.
